For me 2017 was the year of chasing the Southern Right Whale story.

I had been hoping to do this one for years. It was not only because there is a great conservation success story to be shared about these animals. It was not only because of the cool name of the animal which it got from the whaling days; "Right Whale". It was also not only because I have NatGeo Brian Skerry's Southern Right whale image from clear sub-Antarctic waters firmly imprinted in my brain. 

In the latest Duiken magazine our article about Reunion and its Shark Crisis was published.

We visited the island in 2015 and experienced first hand both its raw beauty as well as its dark side; the present shark issue.

Lately some of my images were used in conservation efforts.

The latest examples were a shark conservation campaign in Guatemala by Mundo Azul and the national wide campaign for raising funds for WWF in the Netherlands.

In Guatemala a project was started to collect data on shark populations with the help of local fishermen. A poster was created for the fishermen to recognize the species they were catching better.

Recently the images of our encounter with the mobula rays in Baja were also published on DivePhotoGuide.

My image of a Californian sealion was featured on the cover of the October edition of Dive Magazine lately. It did not look bad at all if you ask me! The whiskers almost jump off the cover :-)

It took a while before it was finally published, but the article in the March edition of Duiken Magazine came out recently. Our trip to Ireland ended in May last year, however our experiences still remain vivid in our memories.

Hurray! My first ever article is coming out in the March edition of Duiken Magazine in the Netherlands. If that was not enough already, they also chose one of my shots of the humpback as the cover shot for the edition. It will hit the market on 21st of February and is being pressed right now! Needless to say, I am very, very happy with it! ;-)
